The Cast
Nam Holtz is a NYC actress who has performed on Broadway, HBO, and independent film. In October, 2010 Miss Holtz returned to S. Korea for the first time in 35 years after being abandoned as an infant. She is currently producing a documentary film about her adoption story and her journey searching for her birth family.

Kevin Kwan Loucks, a graduate of The Juilliard School, is a Korean-American pianist and has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Prösels Castle in Italy, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Lichtenstein Palace in Prague, and on live broadcasts from NPR’s Performance Today and Canada's CBC Radio 2. Mr. Loucks was adopted from his native South Korea before his first birthday and made his first trip back to the country in January 2011 as Principal Artist-in-Residence of the International Arts Mentoring Program; a program dedicated to bringing music performance and arts education to underprivileged Korean children throughout the country.

Yujin Choi, a Korean-American Soprano, graduated from Ehwa Women’s University, Seoul, Korea, with a B.M. and Professional Diploma in Voice Performance. She has performed several operas, poperas, and recitals in Seoul, Korea and NYC, NY and earned the prize of “Winner of Queens Opera Vocal Competition.” Mrs. Choi was a former member of “The National Chorus of Korea.”

The performers bring wonderful music, dances, and stories like Opera Aria, Musical songs/dances, Classic Piano Music, Korean Folk Song, and individual narratives.

In particular, Miss Nam would like to sing “Getting to Know You” from the musical “King and I” with children in MN. Therefore, …
We are looking for children—Korean Americans, adopted Koreans, interracial Korean Americans, and their siblings and friends—around the Twin Cites children with song in their hearts to sing together with Miss Nam at the benefit concert.

The choir will meet every Saturdays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. from July 9 to August 6, 2011 (2:30 p.m. on the concert day, Aug. 13).

The first rehearsal is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at “Korean Heritage House,” located at 681 Snelling Avenue N. Saint Paul, MN.
Choir Age Range: 1st grade ~ 10th grade (as of 2011-2012 school year)

Nam Holtz, 현재 뉴욕 브로드웨이를 중심으로 영화와 뮤지컬 배우로 활동 중이며, 2010년 10월, 미국으로 입양된 지 35년 만에 처음으로 한국을 방문하였고, 자신의 입양 이야기와 생부모를 찾는 여정을 다큐멘터리로 제작 중에 있습니다.

Kevin Kwan Louks, 줄리어드에서 피아노로 석사를 마쳤고 카네기홀, 링컨센터 등 세계 유명 극장에서 연주활동을 하고 있습니다. 2011년 1월에Principal Artist-in-Residence of the International Arts Mentoring Program을 통해 처음 한국을 방문하였고, 형편이 어려운 청소년들에게 음악을 가르치며 재능기부로 그의 사랑을 나누었습니다. 이번이 입양된 후 첫 한국방문이었지만 Kevin은 이제 매년 이런 재능기부 프로그램을 계속해 나갈 계획입니다.

Yujin Choi 최유진, 이화여대에서 성악을 공부하고 최고 연주자 과정을 마쳤습니다. 한국에서 국립합창단 단원으로 활동 중 미국으로 이민을 와서 “퀸즈 오페라 성악콩쿨”에서 수상했고, 뉴욕 지역에서 소프라노 성악가로 활동 중에 있습니다.

이 번 자선음악회를 위해 세 명의 연주자들은 기꺼이 자신의 재능과 시간을 기부해 주셨고, 이제 다양한 음악(오페라, 뮤지컬, 한국가곡, 민요)과 춤, 그리고 그들의 마음 따스한 이야기들로 미네소타 지역에서 자라나는 한인 2,3세, 입양인, 그 친구와 가족들에게 희망과 도전의 메시지를 전해 주실 것입니다.

합창단 단원 모집
이번 연주회에서 Nam Holtz와 함께 뮤지컬 “왕과 나”에 나오는 “Getting to Know You”를 함께 부를 어린이/청소년 합창단원을 모집합니다. 한국 동요/명곡도 함께 연주할 계획입니다.

대상: 나이 1학년 - 10학년, 노래하기 좋아하는 어린이/청소년 누구나 환영합니다.
연습일정: 7월 9일 – 8월 6일까지 매주 토요일 오후 5:00 – 6:30
연습장소: Korean Heritage House, 681 Snelling Avenue N. Saint Paul, Minnesota
