Hello all! I am Yongdae Kim, an associate professor at the Computer Science Department, who was a president of Korean Scientists and Engineers Association Minnesota Chapter (KSEA MN) last year. I'd like to introduce 2nd career workshop for Korean graduate and undergraduate students, who are planning to work in the US and/or Korea industry and/or academia. This workshop features two keynote speakers, who are extremely successful as a leader in their field. Don Kwak is a vice president of 3M who worked in 3M for 30 years, and Chang Won Song is a professor in medical school who worked in 40 years in academia without retirement. They will talk about many things including their life, their success, and how they evaluate people. We also feature groups of people from major industry in the Twin Cities and Korea, who will introduce their company. Finally, we have a special panel/lecture on successful professional career. Panelists include 2 associate professors, 2 assistant professors and 2 PhDs working in industry. We will talk about 1) successful student life, 2) academia vs. industry, 3) resume preparation and interview skills, 4) life in academia and 5) academic job application process. We will also take questions from audience after the presentations. We will also provide lunch, raffle drawing, and after meeting party. Please take a look at the attached program for more details.
