안녕하세요. ISSS (international student and scholars service) 에서 아래와 같은 답변을 받았습니다.

Dear Taejoon,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out to ISSS, we apologize for the delay in response. We understand the importance of your questions and the challenges students are experiencing as plans are made for next fall. ISSS is currently awaiting a decision regarding classes this fall. The University of Minnesota’s President Joan T.A. Gabel has stated she will announce a decision regarding fall courses in June. We are also awaiting updated information regarding visa regulations and what impacts they will have for international students starting this fall.

Your message has been forwarded to Grace Machoki (cc'd), ISSS Senior Counselor/Adviser, who should be reaching out to you within the next week or so.

Please wait for her correspondence and let her know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

International Student and Scholar Services

Dear ISSS,

Hello. I would like to ask a question on behalf of fellow international students from S. Korea who are admitted to the U since this Fall semester. As the uncertainty regarding whether to resume the classes as normal has not been resolved yet, new students are wondering whether they should proceed with the original plan of moving to the States before the semester begins. What is especially confusing is when some departments (Law school?) seem to have given the students an option to start in Spring 2021, while other departments have not. Since international students need to deal with extra complexities such as visa status and long-distance relocation, we would like to receive a clear guidance on preparing for the next semester, including information about possible impact on visa status if alternative options—such as taking courses online while remaining in Korea, or postponing the admission—were considered.

Thank you.

TJ,

the president of Minnesota Korean Graduate Student Association.
